My name is Michael Bilello. I am 19 years old and am from Long Island, New York. I have a strong passion for making films and taking photos of sports, events, and more!
My love for the outdoors began around the age of 14 for me. Before that, my weekends typically consisted of watching movies and filming reviews online. As I started to transition into spending more time in nature pursuing my love of skiing, I realized I needed to fulfill my absence of creativity. I began documenting my ski trips with a single GoPro Hero 7 and an IPhone camera which through time became antiques in my camera and gear lineup. Over the course of the next few years, I discovered the best methods for capturing the moment so I could tell stories the way I visualized them. Now every day that I'm out on the mountain getting my turns in, or hunting for surf at my local break, I am also documenting a story.
I am currently based in Long Island, New York but find myself travelling all over the country when I get the opportunity to. As much as I love to get off of the island and into the incredible nature that this country and
others have to offer, my love for surfing has allowed me to truly connect with my home. I started surfing for the first time at the age of 15 and I loved it so much that within a month I was already hunting down five foot waves and getting absolutely crushed, but still giving it my all every session and even getting a few incredible rides! Fast forward 4 years to current times and it became one of my strongest passions in life. Not just surfing itself but filming it, making videos and watching movies about it fueled my determination to excel in the sport. So whether or not I catch anything or if I don't perform the way I hoped, I never let it kill the passion.
Despite my love for living on the beautiful and busy Long Island, I never pass up opportunities to venture to the unknown, especially if it involves skiing. I was on skis at 4 years old, but started to take it very seriously around the age of 13. Skiing is the only sport I enjoy more than surfing, mainly because of it's even wider range of adventure and scenery. Nothing gets my creativity sparked stronger than being surrounded by constantly changing cloud patterns over stunning snow capped vistas. These two sports have brought so much diversity into my life and constant thrills, and to incorporate my love for content creation and capturing the moment has made connecting the two sports even easier for me.
It's not just the connection with nature but with other people around me and even some of my idols that have transformed these sports and film especially into a lifestyle for me.
